Mascara Tips & Tricks Every Girl Should Know

TIP# 1 Wiggle your way to fuller looking lashes
When applying mascara, wiggle the wand at the base of lashes, then pull the wand up and through to the ends. It’s the mascara placed near the roots (not the tips) that gives the illusion of fuller, longer lashes.

TIP # 2 No more clumps!
Keep lashes from clumping, invest in a lash comb and remove any clumps by combing through after applying. Or…clean off excess mascara before applying, by gently wiping wand with a tissue. This eliminates any clumps or blobs before you start.

TIP# 3 A real eye opener
Use an eyelash curler to give the appearance of wider, more curvaceous lashes. Then top with your favourite mascara.

TIP# 4 Prevent smudges
Sometimes the eye creams and moisturizers we use can cause mascara to smudge. Prevent this by lightly powdering your under eye area before applying mascara.

TIP# 5 The secret to the 2nd coat
Love the look of two coats of mascara, but hate the clumps? The trick is to apply the 2nd coat before the first coat is dry. You’ll have to work quickly, but with a little practice, it will all be worth it!

TIP# 6 No more dryouts!
Do NOT pump your mascara wand in and out of the tube, this introduces air into the chamber and will cause your mascara to thicken, clump and dry out sooner!

Back To Reality

Wow what a holiday season for me. I’ve been so busy that I didn’t get a chance to update this blog in over 2 weeks! Between family, friends, cooking, baking, parties and everything else it was a fun time but exhausting! I’m sure some of you can relate. I hope you all had a great time with your friends and family this holiday season. Let’s make 2010 a year to remember!

I’ve had a lot of responses from people finding my blog and I thank you for reading and participating. That being said, there will be plenty of fun promotions and specials coming up for my Avon customers. If you are in the Montreal, Canada area you will be able to benefit from this the most. I also have some ideas on how to include customers across Canada.

In the near future I will be looking to build an Avon team. By that I mean a group of women who want to create a business for themselves through Avon as I am doing. 100+ Uses for Avon’s Skin-So-Soft Part 3

In this third and last installment I have a few more uses for Avon’s Skin-So-Soft bath oil.  Links for parts 1 and 2…

Animal Uses

1. It’s a great insect repellent for your pet. (As recommended in “Outdoor Life” and “Field and Stream”.)
2. Mix 5 parts water, One part SSS and mist on animals. Brushing it in makes their coats gleam and keep insects off so the animals don’t fidget in the show ring.
3. Mix in your pet’s bath water. It takes the fleas off of them. In between spray them with the same mixture as in #2 to help keepp them off.
4. Rub on your hands before and after working with your pets and farm animals. It will remove hair and any insects off of you.

Continuing with part 2 I will share with you Household uses for SSS.

1. Sponge it around doors, windows and on screens to keep crawling bugs out.
2. It’s a good wood cleaner and conditioner for natural wood.
3. It removes glue and gum left from price tags and labels from glass, metal and most plastics.
4. It removes soap scum from shower doors and curtains, bathrooms and kitchen figures.
5. It removes lime and hard water deposits from fixtures, tile, shower doors and windows.
6. It’s an oil lubricant for fitting pipe joints that won’t slip together.
7. It cleans ink off most vinyl and painted surfaces.
8. It takes fur off clothing.
9. Rub on brass ornaments or figurines to help keep them from turning dark.
10. Removes crayon from appliances and most painted surfaces.
11. Wash cupboards with it mixed in your cleaning water to keep ants off and out of the cupboards.
12. Use it to discourage hornets from building their nests. After using a hornet killing spray, remove the nest and keep the area sprayed with SSS. They will not rebuild there.
13. Use it to clean leather, it will also keep it soft and supple.
14. Use it on your air conditioning screen (filter). Your incoming air will smell fresher and the filter is easier to clean.
15. Rub all over window sills to keep ants out.
16. It cleans paint brushes easily and leaves them soft as new.
17. It removes gum from carpets.
18. It removes scuff marks from patent leather shoes.
19. Use it on running rails for sliding glass doors and windows.
20. It removes “ring around the collar”.
21. It removes liquid nail (paneling glue).
22. Have two glass bowls or glasses stuck together? Drizzle a little SSS down the sides and they’ll come apart easily.
23. It removes candle wax from furniture, carpets and clothing.
24. Hummingbird feeders: To deter bees try rubbing SSS on the feeder surface by the feeder ports.
25. Maggots? Squirt SSS in can and lid, then later flush with soapy water. You shouldn’t have any bugs in cans for the rest of the summer.
26. It is a great furniture polish!
27. Put SSS in one of the bottles that you attach to your backyard hose. Spray down the back yard with it. Will cut down on ants, mosquitoes and other creepy crawlies.
28. People around the outskirts of Eureka and surrounding areas spray it on their rose bushes to keep the deer from eating them.
29. Kills spiders.
30. It cuts grease and cleans dirt from range hoods.
31. Add a capful to wash water of clothes. Acts as a fabric softener and keeps bugs off clothes. (Not tested in front load washers.)
32. Spray on orchids and other flowers for moisture and to keep bugs away.
33. Cleans baseball caps. Just spray on and rub with toothbrush.
34. Mix one part SSS and two parts water. Spray on tomato plants to keep those ugly tomato worms off. Spray plants every 2-3 days. SSS bath oil also does a great job cleaning cherry wood cabinets.
35. Put a little in your mopping water to help keep crawling bugs out. (Not too much or the floor gets slippery.)
36. Use to clean windows.
37. Removes crayon from most surfaces.
38. It’s a great insect repellent. Or use Bug Guard, the actual SSS repellent.
39. Screens can be lightly sprayed with SSS to repel tiny gnats that otherwise might slip through the screens.
40. Kills those pesky earwigs. Spray it on and they don’t return to life.
41. If you make candles. Use clear wax and melt Skin-So-Soft in it and harden. Works great for outside in the summer.
42. As a deodorizer, spray into air and let settle. Kills those nasty pet orders.If a child wets the bed, spray the bedding and sheets before washing and will give it a fresh clean smell.

100+ Uses for Avon’s Skin-So-Soft Part 1

Did you know that there were so many uses for Avon’s Skin-So-Soft? I know I didn’t lol! As a lover of multi functional products I thought I’d share for the following with my readers.

Personal Uses

1. It’s a bath oil and after shower moisturizer.
2. It can be used to remove makeup.
3. Great tanning oil (no sunscreen, although I don’t recommend this a lot of people).
4. Hot oil treatment to soften cuticle.
5. Great massage oil for tired muscles.
6. Cleans off tape marks left from bandages on skin.
7. Cleans ink off of skin.
8. Insect repellent.
9. Helps relieve itching caused by dry skin.
10. Cleans oil and grease off skin.
11. Painting something? Use Skin-So-Soft to remove paint from the hands. (Instead of turpentine.)
12. It soothes light sunburn.
13. Rub hands with it before washing, it helps get them cleaner.
14. Rub on dry, cracked skin…helps heal skin in 2-3 days.
15. Put 1-2 caps full in liquid soap and use it for shaving legs and under arms. Helps razor glide and leaves skin feeling smooth.
16. Poor a little into your Foot Saver to help moisturize your feet while you relax them.
17. It removes chewing gum from hair, skin and most non porous surfaces.
18. Cleans permanent ink off stamps.
